Porsche 356A 1500 GS Carrera Coupé ‘Goldfinger’

Complete restoration of a Porsche 356 Carrera 1500 GS.

This job was done by our body shop and required us to completely overhaul the panels, interiors, mechanical equipment and electrical system. The car has taken part in numerous national and international club competitions, and won many prizes and mentions. On 13/12/2011 it took part in the 1000 Miglia and the Trofeo Nuvolari.

THE DISCOVERY OF COLOUR

Phase One

At first sight, the livery was in classic sports car red. But during disassembly, we found that its original colour had been a beautiful gold.

OVERHAUL OF THE BODY

Phase Two

Once the old layers of paint had been stripped with our high pressure water system, we replaced the rusted, dented and badly repaired body panels. In doing so, we attempted to maintain the original panels or replace them with original spare parts wherever possible.

PAINTING

Phase Three

Thorough cleaning of the body with degreasing detergents and application of a first coat of epoxy primer. The lengthy preparation involves aligning the surfaces and apertures. The final step sees the restoration of the original brilliant gold paint work.
